Cohort Definition and Build
background

A cohort study is a particular form of statistical study that sample a cohort (a group of people who share a defining characteristic, typically who experienced a common event in a selected period), performing a cross-section at intervals through time. It is often used to obtain evidences, that can help to refute the existence of a suspected association between cause and effect.

business challenges

The task was to have clinical picture, as clear as possible, for particular scientific research and to determine patients, who can be included in cohort on certain grounds (e.g. absence of comorbidities, presence of specific drug therapy) without unpredictable impact on the studied outcomes.

value delivered

Being aware of the way of data conversion and representation and clinical features of studied entity, we cross-referenced customer’s clinical data with standardized medical protocols. Thereby reliable cohorts were built, making customer’s research more correct and transparent.

approach

Our team has studied medical information (specific treatment, diagnostic test results, etc. ) and analyzed data ratio to exclude unreliable data. Then, using SQL tools and Atlas (open source application providing a unified interface to patient level data and analytics), we create required patient set.
